AI Assistants, Metal Printing, and a Public API
Our biggest batch of updates yet: an AI assistant built into your dashboard, support for connecting Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor to your shop, DMLS metal quoting, STEP and 3MF uploads, a public REST API, widget conversion analytics, and internal order notes for your team.
We've been shipping non-stop, and it's time to catch you up. This is the biggest batch of updates we've ever rolled out, so let's get right into it.
An AI assistant, built into your dashboard
Meet Action Chat, an AI assistant that lives right in your business dashboard. Open it from the header and ask for what you want in plain English: review today's orders, walk through pricing setup, dig into your shop's performance. It comes with preset prompts to get you started, and it works with the same business data you already see, so answers are grounded in your actual shop, not generic advice.
Bring your own AI
Already living in Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor? You can now connect your AI assistant directly to AutoQuote3D. Your assistant gets secure access to prepare quotes, review orders, adjust shop settings, and pull performance data, and you approve anything important before it happens. Setup takes a couple of minutes. Head over to the AI page to connect yours.
Instant quotes for metal: DMLS support
AutoQuote3D now quotes Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) parts. That brings us to five supported technologies: FDM, SLA, SLS, MJF, and DMLS. If you run powder systems, material setup also got easier: we now suggest common powder densities for SLS, MJF, and DMLS materials, so you can get accurate pricing configured without digging through datasheets.
STEP and 3MF uploads
Your customers are no longer limited to STL and OBJ files. The quoting widget now accepts STEP (.step / .stp) and 3MF files up to 150 MB, and we convert them server-side automatically before pricing. CAD users can quote straight from their native exports without a conversion step slowing them down.
A faster, smarter quoting widget
The new customer-facing quoting experience is now the default for every shop. Pricing runs on our servers instead of the customer's browser, which means faster quotes, fewer failure points, and reliable handling of long-running jobs. Big parts that take a while to price no longer time out; the widget keeps customers informed while it works. Minimum order amounts are also now applied correctly after bulk discounts, and when a part exceeds your quoting limits, customers see a clear request-a-quote path instead of a dead end.
See how your widget converts
Your business dashboard now includes a widget funnel: how many sessions turn into uploads, quotes, and paid orders. It's an at-a-glance view of where customers drop off, so you can spot friction in your quoting flow and fix it.
Internal notes on orders
Your team can now leave staff-only notes on orders and individual parts. Tag a teammate and they'll get an email; customers never see the thread. No more coordinating production details over a separate group chat.
A public API for your integrations
Developers can now build directly against AutoQuote3D with our public REST API. Create an API key from your dashboard settings, then read quotes, orders, and part files from your own systems. The API ships with an OpenAPI document so you can generate a client in your language of choice. Check out the developer resources to get started.
That's the roundup! As always, most of these came from your feedback, so keep it coming. We read everything.
